IVY, OUR FOUNDATION BITCH

This is our foundation bitch, Ivy the Terrible. Ivy is a pure bred Boston terrier, but is dual registered with the IOEBA as FOUNDATION stock. Unlike many other registries, the IOEBA maintains an OPEN stud book. This allows for more flexibility in a breeding program, as the gene pool is much less limited. It goes a long way toward preventing too much inbreeding, which is important in a rare breed like the OBB.

In order to be registered as foundation stock, the animal must meet the IOEBA standard for the OBB. Pictures from 3 different angles are submitted with the registration papers, and are reviewed by the IOEBA staff.

Ivy is a wonderful dog. She is smart, funny, obedient, healthy, athletic, strong and affectionate. Everyone is her friend, so she's a crummy watch dog. She loves to work, loves having a job to do. Ivy is a fierce and determined gopher killer! She weighs 20 lbs., and stands 14.5" at the shoulder. Ivy is O.F.A. registered patella NORMAL. Her O.F.A. number is: BTR-PA10004/50F/S-PI.

We do a lot of SCOOTERING together. We even went to a mushing clinic, where Ivy got to pull in a team with a husky that had run in the Iditarod the year before! Scootering is great fun for people and dogs.

The dog pulls the scooter, while you ride and "pedal" with one foot. It's good exercise for both of you! Ivy has a little cart that I built for her. She pulls groceries and laundry with it. She loves to retrieve her ball and Frisbee. She also likes to swim.
